Devices

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Place two Day Sequence devices in the scene. One will act as the base sequence and remain visible at all times, while the second will be used for fade in and fade out testing.
  2. Set up trigger devices with direct binding to the Fade In and Fade Out events of the test Day Sequence device (not the base sequence).
  3. Set the Fade Speed value on the test Day Sequence device to a low number (e.g., 0.1), run the game, trigger the fade in/out, and observe the fade speed.
  4. Set the Fade Speed value on the test Day Sequence device to a high number (e.g., 1000), run the game again, trigger the fade in/out, and observe the fade speed.

Expected Result

The Fade Speed value should represent fade duration in seconds, with a higher value meaning a longer fade and a lower value meaning a shorter fade, allowing for precise timing when syncing with animations, sound cues, or events. Documentation should clearly state the time relationship.

Observed Result

Decreasing the Fade Speed value makes the fade slower, while increasing it makes the fade faster. This behavior is counterintuitive and opposite to the assumption that the number represents fade duration in seconds.

Additional Notes

The documentation says that Fade Speed “determines how quickly the device fades in and out,” but it doesn’t mention the actual time relationship.
