The Advanced Vehicle Retread Community Project

Update Up. Good luck with your testing, Please get back to me if you find the same issues plus i would to like to hear peoples opinions, also i might have some answers if your issues are the same ?.

Well I would be will to put a Test Map together Using the Terrain LandScape if you tell me (how to test the Vehicles) Currently I can only walk around and look at them.

Press the corresponding number or in some cases letter in front of each vehicle ? then once (or at any time) you have possessed a vehicle, press G for 4X4 Test track, Also press Backspace at anytime for controls/information ?.

I am very impressed at many aspects of your system. I like all the vehicles, the Map and how you incorporated the Test track and Instructions. I love the idea of switching out wheels. However I am not impressed with the handling of the Vehicles. From what I have seen and tested so far from The Unreal Engine 4 has Failed at Vehicle Physics. Every project I have tested has the same results. When the Vehicle leaves the surface it flips and turns into a Ragdoll and goes out of control. Nothing feels even close to Need for Speed or even Rocket League. I just want a Stable Vehicle system that can Jump Ramps and have Air Control, Speed Boost, Player Ejection …You know … like UT3.

Hi ! Can you tell me where to change the maximum speed when driving?

Hi, there isn’t an actual max speed variable, (from what i know of, of which isn’t a huge amount :). if a car is too fast then it’s probably one of the cars that i have made very light, Check the Vehicle movement component in the vehicles BP, Once Vehicle movement highlighted, scroll down to Vehicle Setup, and see what the ‘Mass’ is set to (average cars seem to be always set around 2000 - 2500), if car too slow then put in a lower amount. Also moving the Torque in mechanical setup can increase/decrease the speed ?. The fact is i Obviously don’t know a huge amount about this subject. and also there is no actual optimum set up for vehicles anyway (depends on what you want), The main thing this project is for is giving people car bases with already setup lights ect to help them make their own vehicles. Math B on youtube (i think) has tutorials on engine setups. Good Luck, and please comment again if you have any more Queries, Also i wouldn’t be angry if someone was to actually give this project a Like ? Let alone tell me they have downloaded it and what they think (about 3 people so far including you

OK, thank you very much for your kind answer!

Hi, this is free? or not? and where is the link? THX looks so cool, i need this in my project!

How about when you crash into another vehicle does the vehicle fly into the air like crazy or stop dead on its tracks? Has that been fixed or is this bug still present?

Yes i’m afraid so, the physics side of things i don’t have a clue about. I have come across this, but haven’t tried it yet. Unless good physics are only obtainable with c++, this might work ?.

Thta’s really the main issue with the default vehicle, it’s lack of stability and interaction with other vehicles, like when you crash it’s not even close to realistic it just stops you dead on your tracks as if you hit a solid wall and wont budge the other vehicle, or it would just spaz out into the air. But ill give this a try and and see. Thanks.

NP, I have tried it since my last post (set stability speed variable to 2 (higher seems bad?) then the stability up as much as 500 and fed the ‘Add Torque in Radians’ through the event tick). and it did seem to effect it. you might find a better setting for the variables than my quick try and also i think i read somewhere (while trying to make a torque powered vehicle) that the ‘Get Physics Angular Velocity in Radians’ should now be in degrees instead of radians ?. or it was the other way around (the way it already is) lol. if you do try it and get some good results could you please get back to me so i could use it :). i would say i’ll put it in an update, but no one seems to be bothered about me updating this lol

Hello everyone!
Do you think it is also possible to implement three-wheeled vehicles?
I would be exalted, I can provide the model made in Blender!

Yes it is. But what are you wanting ?, Visible working suspension like the Advanced vehicle template blue buggy, or basic ‘Sedan’ vehicle template type with the standard wheels that hover in position. Either are possible. Looking at the design i could give the back wheels the ‘Advanced’ style suspension and could recreate the front wheel fork style if you would like, It’s up to you.

I tried to download from this link:

Wheelmaster Blender files plus other files that might come in useful if wanting to follow tutorial (Size 5.8mb)
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1mF…gOtf1kvJpEZ4ae

and it says “No preview available, File is in owner’s trash” - is that intentional? is there a new version somewhere?

thanks for this!
