The low rating without any explanation or way to appeal is a real issue. It pretty much screws over with the whole thing
yeah, they really should have just kept the 5 rating minimum or gave devs the option to toggle it on or off. I had 2 products have 1 rating and it was 1 star and I have no clue why, no one ever reached out to me for support about it. I ended up taking those down which sucks because one of them sold very well but I wont have a 1 star 1 rating product.
i think it would be better if they FORCED a mandatory text review if the rating is low, like 3 or less or forced contacting seller before publishing bad rating
ofc, there would also need to be a process to dispute bad ratings without any merit, bad review without any feedback is worthless
but also the system needs to be updated so that it is possible to directly link to specific review and/or page of review, as now its impossible to get a link to specific review or page the review is in, with lots of reviews, its needed to go manually thru next, next, nextâŚ., page to get to specific review, thats an issue too
I have no doubt people will leave text if they want to do 1 star, in my experience people donât leave 1 star because the product is bad, they leave them because something really minor made them angry and they donât want to get support for it because they know itâs dumb and just want to vent. Thatâs my big issue with review systems, is they are never accurate to the actual product.
well thats why there should also be a process to dispute unfair or meaningless reviews
like if u get 1 rating and the review says nothing like âits badâ etc. , sellers should be able to report that as ânon feedback/no meritâ review for fab support to remove or hide
I agree with you, but thatâs a slippery slope and itâs extremely hard to define what meaningless means on a extremely broad context like asset reviews.
It really is simpler to just let sellers have some level of control over how reviews are shown. Keeping the 5 minimum as a seller dashboard toggle would have been the best solution I think. Having it where a single person can force a product to be taken down by leaving a 1 star rating opens sellers up to blackmail.
I have been blackmailed by people wanting me to email them source files or go way beyond the scope of support by teaching them unreal engine for free with threats of 1 star ratings, usually itâs on products that donât have any or have very few.
@Hourences please consider giving sellers the option to enable/disable the 5 review minimum for public display on a per product basis. Several people including myself had to take down products entirely because they had 1 star rating from 1 person who never sought support and we donât know why. This also opens sellers up to blackmail of threats of 1 star ratings on products if we donât do what they want, Iâve had this happen twice and the 5 rating minimum saved me from being blackmailed(they left a 1 star but no one saw it until other valid ratings were there) when this happened epic told me they donât remove reviews and itâs up to me figure out the dispute.
Hey everyone, Iâve noticed a growing number of obviously trollish 1-star reviews on the marketplace â including on completely free models that have possibly many downloads. I also got two 1 star reviews for some of my 3d models. They are technically good. I canât fix something when I donât know what the problem is! The buyer never reached me. Maybe he didnât know how to set it up, maybe heâs angry at the price, maybe he doesnât like the fab, who knowsâŚ
I get that reviews are important and that not every model is perfect, but when good-quality models (free or paid) get deliberately tanked by people with one star, it does real damage: It discourages creators from uploading high-quality work (why spend dozens of hours on a model if itâs just going to get review-bombed?)
It makes it harder for users to find actually good models when the rating is artificially dragged down
It hurts the overall trust in the marketplace rating system
For the text reviews I would suggest maybe something like short âwaiting periodâ before a review goes live so obvious spam can be caught
A report button specifically for abusive/troll reviews that actually get looked at quickly
u are right, maybe it would be better for sellers to be able to control if they want to show rating before 5 ratings or not, but thats still doesnât fix the issue of meaningless or zero feedback bad reviews, so i see it only as temporary âsolutionâ
what if u get more of them or all 5 are 1 without explanation
and yes the issue will be mostly with products that dont have many reviews, so i think epic should work on this issue asap
If you get 5 1 star reviews/ratings then there is likely something wrong with your product like a crash or something and a relaunch with more testing would be advised there.
they need to tweak this more regardless.
IMO, it was already working as best as it could in the old MP - mandatory text always. The only thing missing was moderation and the removal of âDiscord verificationâ style reviews.
Moderation is required for a fair review system.
If someone blackmails you with the threat of a 1-star review, you should show the msgs to Epic and Epic should take this into account.
Mandatory text doesnât mean the text will have any meaningful value, no one cares if its a 5 start, but they do if its low rating.
And the âdiscord verificationâ was only an issue that epic created themself, by not having any other way to verify customers.
But the verification should not even be a thing ever, everything should be contained in the asset u purchased, including any additional files and documentation mentioned in the description.
Sellers blocking access to any part of the asset behind some nonsense additional verification should not be allowed to do that and banned if they doing this, im a customer of FAB, not the seller, i should not need to even bother about anything that is not on FAB and the seller should have no way to force any data or interaction from me.
Low-rating reviews containing dumb or just fill-up text have low credibility, potential buyers look at this stuff before buying, specially for expensive assets. On the other hand, in a system that doesnât allow texts the effect of a low-rating review without text is always worse.
Not at all. There are (and always were) many ways to verify customers - email, private msg, etc. Iâm a seller and always verified customers without using the review section.
Verification is for support, not for documentation. Is the seller going to provide support for anyone who asks, including who didnât purchase and have pirate copies instead?
Youâre mixing things, verification isnât for the seller to contact the customer, itâs for the customer to ask for support to the seller. Documentation must always be included regardless, this is the rule since the old Marketplace.
There is bug on reviews.
- Itâs not appear when user write new review
- when user edit itâs rating, old rate still showing
No it isnât and im not mixing things.
Maybe u are a great seller, but the thing is that sadly some are not and many of them are misusing the system, always was.
I should not be forced to provide any personal data to the seller to get support if the asset doesnât work as described or lacks documentation, this should be solved my epic with a systemic approach.
A
That would be great, but unfortunately I donât see this coming to FAB⌠In the old MP you could get some support directly in the Questions section without giving your email or Discord (there was an icon on your name indicating that you did actually purchase that product), but the text length was very limited. FAB is even more lacking in this area.
If by âmisusing the systemâ you mean the Discord verification reviews, I doubt this systemic approach would solve that, people just love Discord and I suppose would continue using it for getting support. Iâm afraid moderation of the Reviews section is the only solution to thatâŚ
