Steps to Reproduce

  1. Visit an island published with UEFN or Creative
  2. Observe the Text Chat window does not render at all

Expected Result

The Text Chat window renders and is usable

Observed Result

The Text Chat window does not render and pressing the shortcut (Enter) blocks player input until you press it again.

FORT-920668 has been created and its status is ‘Unconfirmed’. This is now in a queue to be reproduced and confirmed.

Hi!

I encountered the same issue this on my map and resolved it by adjusting my Island Setting and HUD Controller toggles. I suspect there’s some changes to how these 2 devices interact with one another after the latest UEFN patch which caused the issue.

ISLAND SETTINGS

  • All HUD related toggles were set to the desired HUD settings for the map (e.g. Show Wood Resource Count : FALSE). On my map, the desired outcome was not showing anything on the HUD.
  • All toggles under “Edit Mode” set to “FALSE”

Hopefully this helps! If this doesn’t fix your map, there could be additional settings impacting your HUD that are specific to your map which is also contributing to the issue.

I can indeed affirm these workarounds work - thank you!

Upon tinkering, the priority “Highest” appears necessary. Setting “Show HUD” to “No” and opting into features was the paradigm I was using which now appears to be broken.

Hi! I had the same problem since the latest update. When opening the chat player would have froze. Thanks to this post I have checked the whole HUD settings and did adjusted whatever you said and turned them on back again one by one… miserable work but in the end it was “show hud” which was turned off. :wink:
