[TEMPLATE] Fighting Game ^_^

Wondering if its going to come with a basic AI or are you going to leave it for a future update?

I will have an AI. But I am not sure if I need to use the AI system of Unreal 4. It got too much unneeded properties for a fighting game. I might make my own system for it like enemy reacting to in whatever state the character is in, range, etc.

I am immensely interested in this, I want to make a 2d fighter based on the manga narutaru, this will be perfect , do you have an ETA?

Man this is great! Keep it up!

Unfortunately I don’t have it. But I am happy to say that the core system is finished and the biggest problem for paper2d is solved. You probably saw the video related to how change the colors and how more than one flipbook is used for one character. Tomorrow I will release another video related to changing the mode / playstyle of a character and how the whole level can be changed/twisted by a player unlike other 2d game engines (at least, unlike most of them). Next part will be the combat. The second part. I know how to do it so I hope I won’t fail.

I also realised that you can add extra flipbooks or change them in my system quite easily. Like changing the weapon or giving the player a hat. It’s just that you have to create sprites for each item and frame.

I am planning to finish this in a couple of months. After I make sure the combat is good, I will start with the menus etc. =)

Thank you man! I just checked your portfolio aswell. Great assests and awesome hair! TEACH ME SENPAIH!

Hello everyone!

One last update before we finally get to the Combat Point.

  1. Color System is finished and both characters can have different colors. 2 for now.
  2. Sound and Effect modules are in.
  3. Learnt how to make quakes fade in and out. (Was odd o_O)
  4. Players now can speak with the map, make changes in it.
  5. Characters can have special modes, in this case we have an Evil Ken!

Thanks for all the support once again.

Awwwesome!
The whole community must thank you for the efforts you put on this project so far! Just keep the great work!

I appreciate your kind words friend. Working for hours everyday.

Cant wait to see combat

i here can’t wait either

I am happy to say that I was able to find a way to do a frame-irrevelant solution. The hits still confirm regardless of the Flipbookframe is present or not. Hoping it will go smooth. Thanks again for the support people.

I cant wait to see more

Le punch.

CHIIIIILLLLLLLLLLLL

You’re doing things that just about no other 2D Fighter Building tool really does. Its scaring me.

In time for halloween I guess?

That’s the whole point of making a Template rather than a limited Engine my friend!

Soon we will be having a Talent System and Debuff System too! :3

And I am trying to reach out the basic combat till that time yeah.

this looks really great!
one question, what happend with the 3d version? is the same project? is on hold?

Thank you Alexarg. Once I progress abit more on 2D, I will return to 3D one. It’s just that one early-access buyers needed a 2D version of it so I had to dwelve deep into it.

It’s not exactly on hold though. For example effect and sound systems are ready and it just need to be migrated into 3D. Another thing would be the huge upgrade on camera and it’s movement. There are many more things that I have fixed and optimized on the way aswell so 3D one will benefit greatly from the progress on 2D. System is basicaly same anyway. =)

are you selling early-access version of the template?

I was. I stopped because I started to add many things and writing explanations was taking so much time. :stuck_out_tongue:

Really AWESOME work on this! Can’t wait to see it published on the Marketplace, especially the Paper 2D version. Btw, are you planning to release 2D and 3D templates both at the same time or separately? I hope you will choose to release them as separate products, starting with Paper 2D Version
Good luck with everything and looking forward to see more updates.
Thanks!
