Hi All,
I’m trying to create a base glass material to cover most of my material instance uses. Been following several different tutorials and trying to blend things I’ve learned. For instance, in Pwnisher’s material video, he showcased the Static switch Parameters and I was thinking that would work for switching between blur and bump on a glass material. I’m in 5.5.4, not using Substrate at the moment.
The issue I’m running into is that when I set the opacity and blur settings to a static switch, I lose opacity when Blur is applied. Tried working around that, but ended up setting the blur amount to the opacity settings and then losing the “visibility” of the blur itself because then the glass opacity is overriding it.
I’m attaching a screenshot of my node graph below if anyone has any tips. You’ll notice the gap where the static switch - between the blur and the switch. I’m thinking that whatever opacity setting to keep the glass and blur consistent needs to go before the switch, I’m just stuck on what function to use.
Appreciate all the tips. I have resisted using Substrate, but the more I see in my findings, it seems like I should probably just switch to Substrate and it’ll be easier.
Thanks!
T.
