Super Long Range shadows (10 mill uu+)

So looks like I hit the capability of the Unreal engine, even with the Far Shadows. I suppose there is nothing I can do about this, unless i go look at the source code.

I’m trying to dynamically light and shadow planets in unreal, These planets are big, gas giants, etc ,etc.
Looks like the resolution for the shadows isn’t enough to do this. (shadows for planetary rings, planet -> cast shadow on rings & rings -> cast shadows on planets & moons -> cast shadows on planet &or rings)

Any ideas?

Also far shadows wont apply to a material that is set to transparent. You have to get up really close for the normal cascade shadows to apply. (camera has to be < 20,000 uu)

If you’re doing an outer space project you’ll probably have to scale it down further than that.
