Sorry in advance if there’s an obvious reason for this visual glitch, I’m very new to the software.
Some of the textures I import into UE4 seem very glitch-y from a distance (the glitches can also be seen in the content browser, via the thumbnail).
I’ve noticed this appears to be the case in-game too, for example here:
Some of my textures aren’t bad in-game, despite them having glitchy thumbnails (at times), though these animated tiles for example, are well… pretty much unusable in their current state.
I export my textures from Photoshop as PNGs, if this information is useful.
Thanks in advance!
Absolutely, here’s the material set-up(as you can see, the glitch is visible here, too).
I’ve heard some people say Targa files are ideal for UE, is this true? The texture is 256 x 256, and appears to be completely fine when opened with any other software, and again, when up-close in the game is fine.
Thanks for the quick reply!
Here you go! It’s very simple as I say, just a 256/256 png file.
Also , as I said before, when opened in any other software, it’s fine. It’s when it’s in UE4 that I start seeing problems.
This isn’t a seamlessly looping texture btw (it’s a bit off where it’s meant to loop). I just wanted to test the Panner in the material editor. Thanks!
OK, so I’ve saved the image out again as a TGA file, and the problem seems to be gone. Whenever I try to re-import the original PNG, it seems to work correctly now. It may have been a corrupted file after all!
Sorry for wasting your time guys!
happened to me before, usually all it takes is restating editor or reimporting file to fix it, i guess that artefacts are caused when texture loaded incorrectly or something
