I thought I’d share the response from Epic(Charles) on this topic, as I recently ran into it myself. Maybe it will be useful to someone else.
In general - in Unreal Engine 5.2 - everything is fine.
In 5.3 they implemented special hair trimming when there are more than 256 points.
Here’s the official answer:
Starting from 5.3 we started to enforce the number of CVs to be <256. Prior to 5.3, this was only a warning but now we trim the point at import time because it creates other issues down the pipe. The only option in your case is to reduce the number of CVs in your groom unfortunately.
