It has been moved to internal review (like many others assets in the market) … I hope it’s a good news, but I haven’t been asked to send or upload any kind of stuff neither been contacted for notification.
Hey all!
I wanted to step and and mention that we’re doing our best to make sure these kinds of things don’t happen. We sent several emails out to jamis soon after moving his content to “In Marketplace Queue” but for some reason (spam filter? Internet Goblins? unsure) the emails never made it through. We’ll look into it in more detail and make sure we’re seeing the bounces if they are happening.
I wanted to re-iterate that once we move your items to the “In Process” or “Scheduled” queue, you should hear from the Marketplace team regularly until your item is on the Marketplace. If you haven’t heard from us in over 2 weeks, there’s probably something weird going on, so please let us know by sending an email to [EMAIL=“marketplace@epicgames.com”]marketplace@epicgames.com and someone will investigate!
Hi derek !
I really appriciate the speed and the reactivity of both you and Ivey to find a solution. Everything looks fine now since I’ve received all the mails you send today (at least I hope) and I’m waiting for the agreement
Congratulations on getting to the marketplace ‘coming soon’! Any word on price yet?
thx
the price has been set to $95
$95 haha… Who will buy expensive item at UE4 Marketplace. Think before sales…if you sales in cheapest price lot of buyer will buy. If you sales in highest price, one of them will pay but they sales again or they divide $95 in group.
$95 is very fair for what could take a week worth of work or more.
is around the 3rd or 4th thread where Peude complained about pricing on the marketplace. $95 is more than reasonable for a modular content pack of size and quality.
I think it is … and actually it didn’t take a week of work … it took 5 monthes… (the bronze statue itself took about 2 weeks) … if it has been a commission I would charge about $8000 to $10000…
so yeah I really think $95 is a fair price
(and to the people who think it’s too expensive … just do not buy it … make it yourself )
Wow is great! I don’t know where I could use it for now, but when I find something… I’ll be back
It’s a beautiful pack, and $95 is probably under pricing it. Looks like it would have fit great anywhere in Bioshock Infinite
Imo should be around $500.
lol ^^ so you can buy it $95 and send the remaining $405 directly to me
Great pack! However, I think if you set the price lower you’ll earn more. The marketplace mostly is from users that are trying to get the most for the bux. As you said for a commission you can get 4k-8k even more depending on the client, but for the marketplace user… hmm and btw, thanks to the persisting marketing tricks over the years $99 sounds less than $95… you can almost hear the “Only” before the numbers :P. I guess you can get advice from Epic about their statistics and what is the most suitable price. For an example for me $55 is must have, no matter your project or not, $75 if possible assets have matching with your project and $95 is kinda “I’ll be using at least 70% of the content”… $200 will be like “That suits perfectly for my current project and purposes” and if the $55 is 7/10 of ACTIVE marketplace users, then $75 is 4/10 on that way $95 and more is 2.5/10, and $200 is like 0.2/10.
Of course that’s in my head, if you have word with epic they can give you an honest advice, because they’re taking a %, meaning it’s in their interest too.
Good job with your pack, and thanks for making the marketplace a more serious place!!
actually there is absolutely no statistic avaible about marketplace sales from epic . they don’t want to communicate on that … why ? we don’t know, but I can assume that’s because sales aren’t that good and they don’t want to discourage potential content creators with bad selling perspectives.
maybe your analysis is correct, but I’m not ready to sell 5+ monthes of works for less than $50 (remember that epic keep 30% + additional 20% of VAT in my country … :s )
anyway thanks a lot for your comment
Hmmm, that’s psychological only, I mean if you place it cheaper, you can earn more by encouraging more people get it (instead of 1 person paying $100 3 can buy it for $60 and you’ll earn 180, not 100, by placing it cheaper. I know there’s no statistics from Epic, that’s why it will be best to ask them in the form of “advice”, what they will suggest for most optimal price for profit. Your work is great, hands down. That’s why, I’m sharing you my thoughts.
About Epic, the best think in my mind is to try build habits for using the marketplace, because that’s the most efficient way. Habits are hard to create and hard to leave. That’s why it would be great from them to put more content
Looks good, however, 95$ is to much for assets. If you would also add, lets say, a blueprint fps script with 1-2 guns, i would say 95$ will be definitly okay because it would actually change something in the actual gameplay.
Beside the fact that in the community are not hundreds of lurkers who actually work on a steampunk setting, you won´t sell too much, because your assets are very very theme limited and i cant really remember that someone here is right now working on a steampunk setting.
Hope i dont sound to harsh, wish you good luck with your content and no matter what, guys like you fill and support the ue community!
Greetings!
As Jamis said, you have to not only take into account the amount of work that went into pack, but the 30% royalties as well as taxes. $95 is a steal for these assets. I don’t think some of you understand the long hours of work that goes into making these packs, especially one of caliber. A developer looking to make a steampunk game will be able to get for $95 what would easily cost them thousands if they were to have the assets made personally. pack and many others are worth far more than the listed price, but because it is being sold to more than one potential consumer, lowering the price and garnering a moderate amount of sales can help to procure similar financial returns as a freelance job. will in theory make the investment in time and labor worth it.
And while we don’t have any sales statistics to go by, it is still beneficial to test the market out. The users on forum are only a fraction of the subscribers to UE4, so I wouldn’t exactly use as a measure of interest. If I recall correctly the pack received over 70 or so votes on trello. So there is definitely interest. =)
I know exactly how long it takes… since im also creating my own 3d assets.
Just because you put much effort in it, it doesn´t mean you will succeed. You have to understand the consumers and what they want. Good luck anyways to the op!
That’s not what I’m saying. You can’t undervalue your work because some people might not buy it. Understanding the consumer does not translate to underselling your work because they find the already cheap price of $95 to be too high. You’ll be getting around half of that once royalties and taxes are taken out. People have to pay bills and put food on the table. I’ve seen a couple of consumers here who want high quality content to be either free or no more than $5-10. That’s blatant disregard for the amount of time and labor we put into packs that are already low price to fit the marketplace use.
