Static Shadows Disappearing


As you can see, the tree’s (instanced foliage) static shadow is disappearing the nearer it is to the camera, this appears to correspond with CSM’s dynamic shadow distance. The foliage/trees are set to only cast static shadows and no dynamic shadows.

seems to have the same problem.

The other issue is that regardless of distance the trees seem to never self-shadow.

The post you provided a link to has now been reported as a bug with the tag UE-12005. Keep an eye out for the implemented fix in our upcoming releases. Since this is a newly entered bug there is not an associated version in which the fix is planned to be integrated. I will update this post when a fix has been made.
