Summary
Stat Powerup Device “Stat to Apply” dropdown menu fails to populate many Stat Creator stats.
If there is a limit it needs to be documented AND flagged in-editor and not just leaving the user wondering why the device’s menu is not working correctly.
What Type of Bug are you experiencing?
I’m sorry I mis-selected AI here and now it’s a text block instead of a drop-down menu. My bug is with the UEFN editor, specifically devices (Stat Creators and Stat Powerups).
Steps to Reproduce
Please a reasonable number of stat creators and corresponding stat powerups.
I have 18 showing out of 24? And it’s not consistent, it seems to favor those I have set to team (vs player) and those that trigger on level up, but for the same stat it’ll show 2 or 3 out of 4 (player vs level vs team vs team level).
All the Stat Powerups are set to ‘any team’ and all the Stat Creators are set to Invert Team Selection.
Restarting the editor, creating new Stat Powerups fails to incite the editor to correct itself.
Expected Result
Stat Powerup Device “Stat to Apply” dropdown menu populates all existing Stat Creator stats.
Observed Result
Stat Powerup Device “Stat to Apply” dropdown menu fails to populate many Stat Creator stats.
If there’s a limit the engine fails to alert the user. Whatever’s happening it’s failing silently and this bug brings projects to a dead in the water state.
Stat Powerup Device also lacks the standard, ‘Invert Team Selection,’ option.
It seems though even though it’s a scroll box and there’s no reason for it to cut off, it does cut off before listing all Stats. Similarly to wherever it gives options for, “team 1, team 2, monsters, and something else,” (I forget where, but fails to acknowledge team indexes–a microcosm of the editor’s schizophrenic nature) this is incredibly outdated? and fails to serve it’s intended purpose at least to the completion of a project.
Affects Versions
5.8
Platform(s)
Windows
Additional Notes
The reason I have it set up this way (stat creator teams inverted) is because the 2-team lock on only some parts of the editor (which as mentioned fail to respect or acknowledge the existence of team indexes) forces me to, in order to get proper 3-team dynamics. Really, at least 2 parallel issues here, and the lack of team inversion option on Stat Powerups could be called a third. It’s clearly not my setup that’s the issue or nonfunctional because the ones that work, work, and they’re clearly within the bounds of the device’s logic, it seems it just can’t remember a correct or adequate number of things?
It would also be really helpful to productivity and alpha testing your editor if this dropdown list were sorted in the standard alphabetical way. This is true of a few other places in the editor as well. Nothing should be randomly sorted. Sorting options (eg most recent or alphabetical) would be the modern standard, and truthfully semantic and boolean search options would be the true modern standard and the minimum standard becoming of your company’s revenue margins.
Discussion (Broader)
One of these days I’m gonna sneak past these bugs and get to spend the majority of my time on productivity instead of bug hunting… not be made dead in the water by an incorrectly or incompletely programmed fundamental feature of the editor. Literally sitting here again dead in the water waiting on a basic feature to be programmed correctly… This is why people aren’t making good games for y’all.
