I am trying to displace geomtry to match my terrain. The problem is, I get stair stepping due to materials only working in 8Bit.
Does anyone know of a way around this? perhaps there is a way to change the interpolation of the pixels to privide a smooth gradient instead of stepping?
I am having the same issue with dispalcement textures using UE 5.3 and the r.Nanite.Tessellation console variable enabled.
Any Fix so far?
EDIT: I managed to fix my problem by enabling “Editor Deffer Compression” in the Texture settings
EDIT 2: Im a noob and didnt know what the above setting meant. It basically ignores the compression temporarily.
Essentially,. the fix for me was to change the compression settings. I used HDR Compressed.
