Hey, would you like to team up with 2 artists? We’re located in Europe and would be interested in working with VR.

That would be great! I’ll shoot you an email.

I’d say Thursday to Tuesday sounds fair and it would make the ending much more official than it has been. As long as you close out the submission thread as soon as the stream ended (or started, as that would actually have a set time). Also this would help with “fairness on submission times” as people now have more time to test their builds and get their builds uploaded, there shouldn’t be a need for “leeway” anymore.
Can we still register? If so please add
Pixel by Pixel Studios
Team of 3.
Correction: we now have 5
Not sure about you, but I join game jams to get together with my team and create something that could potentially be turned into a full game at some point. I personally don’t join to kill time, nor am I specifically interested in the prizes.
It would be fair to say that who enters is looking for exposure - to be able to impress people and prove your talent so that you can form teams for bigger projects, get jobs or internships or funding etc. - not to enter a hall of fame that nobody looks at.
“Relative merits” don’t make sense if all the entries are mediocre. That’s actually bad publicity for the Engine.
Also, I could be wrong but I don’t think most people enter every single game jam.
Modeling, rigging and animating a single character with some decent quality takes a minimum of 2 days if you have one guy dedicated to each task. More if you have fewer people, obviously.
Now you lose points if you use premade assets, so it’s expected that you make everything from scratch. But doing it in 3 days is hard.
If the goal of these game jams is to just get the newcomers excited about the engine, then sure, a 3-day jam works. But I know very few games from these jams that got converted to full releases.
It takes time to think of good gameplay and create assets to support it.
I’m sure this has been discussed to death, but I don’t understand the need to rush these jams. Heck, I would even consider doing a month long jam with bigger rewards like the Unreal Dev , which would give people the motivation to produce some high-quality games that can not only be showcased but also be developed and sold as full releases.
Good luck to who’s participating!
can i submit an android entry with googleplay link rather than uploading apk and obb files ?
I’m programmer & i searching for artist, did you find some one or made a team or not?
That’s how game jams are judged. Once you’ve done one you’ll understand why I say that. It’s very hard to reach any level of quality and originality in three days.
I’ll be doing this one solo.
Call me Team Jfaw, I guess.
I’ve seen some impressive work done in three days both in terms of Quality and Originality.
Of course, even given weeks/months (sometimes years) on a game, some devs/studios still don’t have a level of quality and/or originality, especially the latter.
