Split screen is not working for my Fortnite islands since v41.00. I’ve received several bug reports from players and can’t find a fix myself. Other creators experience the same issue.

Iirc, your island must be set to have the “co-op” tag to support split screen.
Plus, if your island has bugs with split screen (ex. wrong UI layouts that does not account for the stretched aspect ratios), if players report it, epic can disable split screen to avoid softlocks and other inconsistent gameplay states.
It works basically in the same way as they disable the island on some platforms due to performance problems if starts crashing or lagging too much.
This is happening on Droid Tycoon as well
I think it’s because you have Proximity Chat for that Island (that’s why it’s broken for us) 
In one of the more recent Fortnite updates (either 40.41 or 41.00) they turned off split screen for any island that has proximity chat because split screen doesn’t support it, so you can’t have both anymore
