Summary
In the Game Channel (not the Party Channel), spectating players and active players were always able to communicate with each other. However, a recent update changed this. Now, as soon as a player enters spectator mode, they are cut off from voice chat with active players.
This change can negatively impact round-based maps with spectating enabled, as it leaves spectators with even less to do while waiting for the next round.
If this change is intentional and not a bug, I strongly recommend adding a setting for creators to toggle this feature on or off. In round-based maps, like Zone Wars maps, communication between spectators and active players is crucial for maintaining engagement and gameplay dynamics.

- Ensure you’re in the Game Channel (not the Party Channel).
- Get eliminated early to enter spectating mode.
- Observe that the list of players in the voice channel disappears, cutting off your communication with active players still participating in the round. You will be able to chat with other specating players as they get eliminated.
