Summary
Issue with sounds not playing from Speaker devices, both for “play on hit” and when activated by other devices. Started happening after one of the recent updates. Only way to get them to play is to change one or more options and save changes. Then the device works temporarily for one game. After that same problem.
For me this happens on a map that was created before the devices were converted to the new versions that have more advanced options. Same thing happens when adding a new sound device on that same map though. Works for one game then have to change a setting to temporarily make it work for the next game. Restoring backup didn’t fix the issue either. Possibly some sort of compatibility issue with maps that were created before the devices or maps were converted?
Also don’t see any way to rename Speaker or Radio devices. The option is no longer in the settings for the device (when tapping the gear icon on the bottom left) and the space at the top of the device options (above the various tabs) is blank. See image.
Because of this the devices have blank names in the events tab (device options) and in the event browser for the map. If they are paired with a device they are listed as “Unknown Device” in the events tab.
Steps to Reproduce
Load a map that was created in Fortnite Creative before the recent device / Fortnite updates (or a new one maybe it’s an issue there too?). Try activating a sound device by hitting it with harvesting tool or via button or other device. If it works, go back to editing mode then start a new game and test the device again.
Expected Result
Speaker device doesn’t play sounds.
Observed Result
No sound from Speaker device.
