Some Maps Cannot Launch Session *Corrected*

Summary

Following the update to v35.00, some creative maps can still not successfully launch session.

The project will open as expected in the editor, it will successfully validate, it will successfully upload the project. The Fortnite client will recognize this and connect to the session, initially. However, it will immediately say “Editor Not Connected”. In UEFN, it will say “Session Loading” forever.

In the client, the player cannot star/end game. The collision in the edit mode is very jittery.

The output log will consistently show:

  1. Open project in UEFN
  2. Launch session
  3. Observe Editor is not Connected,
  4. Observe output log

Expected Result

Can successfully launch session.

Cannot connect to session for all projects

I’ve been having this issue as well since the update. Seems like it may only be affecting my published map. Tried an unpublished map and it worked as normal.

it seems like it is related to the validation server failing to communicate with the session. for some maps, when you try to launch session you just get a generic “cook error” message, with no asset/actor in particular identified. however, when you create a private code, it will fail, and flag which asset/actor is having the problem. once the validation issues are corrected, sessions will launch as expected.

however on some other maps, private sessions will be created as normal, and edit sessions still will fail to connect

so it seems to be 2 different failure modes with sessions

Also @OohWowow - could you try disabling: “Enable Iterative Validation”
