Skylight Broken

For some reason the skylight in my scene is not working. It only displays a black sky. It was working before. I went back to a previous version and now it’s not working in that one as well. Any ideas?

Screenshots of the scene, the Outliner, and the skylight settings are necessary to help.

“Went back to a previous version”. Did you revert your whole project or just some assets?

The SkyLight doesn’t make the sky a different color. In fact, it usually gets its color from the sky. So do you have a SkyAtmosphere and a directional light?

Thanks for getting back to me. Let me explain what I am trying to do. My scene is inside a spaceship. There are some windows for the player to look out of. I followed a tutorial on how to do this and it required removing the SkyAtmosphere to prevent the horizon from showing. I also removed volumetric clouds. The tutorial worked as expected. In order to see the stars I had to turn the exposure up in post processing. However this created another problem in that the interior was way to bright. So after turning it down, I lost the stars. So my dilemma is this: How do I turn up the exposure and not have it affect the interior? Here are my exposure settings:

If your exterior environment is just stars in outer space, then you probably won’t have an ambient skylight coming down on your scene. You could just have your directional light if you have a sun or moon, plus the artificial lights in the ship. Lumen would take care of the general ambient bounced lighting. If you aren’t using Lumen then a weak skylight could serve as a very general fill light.

Having trouble with bright interior lights blinding out the stars is a very real life phenomenon. To get both at the same time you need to set the intensity of your lights very low and multiply the emissive value of your star material very high. That’s the most important step. You can also adjust the Local Exposure to darken the brightest brights and brighten the darkest darks. But that will also wash out any good contrasty shadows.

I think I fixed it. First, I got rid of the skylight. Then It turns out that my directional light was turned down to the point that I wasn’t seeing the stars or anything exterior. Turning it up made the stars visible again but made the interior way too bright. I brought the exposure down in post processing, but I had to be careful because too much caused the stars to go away again. The interior looked much better but still was a little to bright. To get the interior less bright, I lowered the intensity of the lights. Thanks for all the suggestions.
