Skydive volume not working with the Water Volume device after this update

Summary

Before the update, player were able to skydive in the water volume device. Now this is not possible and it is breaking a part of my map

Place down a water volume device
Place a skydive volume inside of the water volume
Start game and try to glide

Expected Result

Player should be able to skydive inside the water volume

Observed Result

Player cannot glide and is forced to swim instead of gliding

FORT-1044550 has been ‘Backlogged’. This is an issue we’d like to address in the future.

Hi Stug,

I used this method to simulate swimming underwater in a game-jam, so when I saw you post this last month I checked it and sure enough - my jam game is broken. :face_with_head_bandage:

Since it got classified as ‘Backlogged’ I wouldn’t expect updates any time soon.

It’s an interesting case though. Raising the question of a line between vigorously supporting backwards compatibility and saying ‘using these devices together is not supported’.

I think the workaround/path forward might be a post-process volume and a two-sided water shader. (Keeping the skydive movement, deleting water volume behavior). Happy to explore alternatives.
