Sky is dark

When I create a new level in my project (file → new level → Basic), I see this

The sky is completely dark. I don’t think this is related to the objects because the unreal template creates them.

I see the same issue when I create an environment from scratch. If I create an environment from a new project, the sky looks fine. I guess it is something to do with my project settings. What can I try?

Did you put the sky atmosphere actor in?

Yes, they are already in the level. I used the template

Hmm, not sure. You could have accidentally tweaked something in the project defaults.

It might be an idea to verify the engine, you can do that from the launcher.

I can create a new project and then the sky looks fine. This only happens on my current project.

I added Ultra Dynamic Sky in another level and maybe that changes the settings?

Nope that’s wouldn’t do it…

Check to make sure ‘Support Sky Atmosphere’ is enabled under Engine → Rendering → Shader Permutation Reduction in your project settings. After restarting your editor, you should see a hefty number of shaders being compiled. This solved the problem for me.
