Back in 2023 There were a couple blog posts about the process of updating Fortnite to use Nanite & Lumen. In one example, they very briefly explain that they used a simple workaround to “skip screen trace hits on foliage” to eliminate the dark shadow artifacts that typically happen with lumen and grass.
Has anyone every successsfully replicated this, or found any instructions on how to actually achieve this? I’m not having any luck in 5.5, having looked through material details, mesh settings, landscape grass actor params, static mesh foliage params, or even just static mesh actor details.
Does this require a custom shader model? MPCs?
