Simulated VR Physics objects flying away

Hi there, for some reason my simulated physics objects are flying away on play. I am using the basic pickup cube in the VR template, and whenever I turn on physics simulation the object just flies away. I tried turning up dampening on the object, but this just causes it to spin in the air, and enabling gravity causes to object to fly upwards. I am just using the basic cube and have made no changes to any physics other than enabling block all on some objects. I hope someone can help as this is incredibly frustrating!
