Hey guys,
I couldn’t find anyone with a similar problem:
My current version is UE 4.12.5:
For some reason the shape of my character and the border of my screen is smeared/blurred across metallic surfaces every time when he moves. Planar reflections is turned off and Motion blur is disabled and turned off in the Project Settings. The only PP effect that is enabled on the screenshot below is Bloom.
This happens in VR as well, and is also noticeable when I place foliage in front of a metallic surface (see second image). The problem also persists in UE 4.13
The issue can be seen more clearly when the light level of the World exceeds 100 units (.e.g 200), which can happen when a Day/NightBlueprint is incorporated, that calculates light levels above the determined values.
My FPS are always above 60 FPS, so it’s not a lag issue.
This issue can be recreated in a new project:
1.) Select “Third Person Blueprint” from the templates and create the project
2.) Click on the Floor Mesh of the demo level and double click on “CubeMaterial” to open the Material Editor
3.) Connect “Constant 1” with Metallic and “Constant 0” with Roughness and Specular.
4.) Set the directional light level to 200
5.) Play in Editor and observe a silhouette/bodypart smear when the player moves in front of dark surfaces
