Hello everyone beautifully. I always like to find a solution to a problem myself, but this is killing me. Why does it look so bad in PT? Sharp shadows and lampshade material loses translucency. Why am I doing what wrong. There are a lot of beautiful renders on Youtube, but somehow I don't see this type of lighting. Could this be a well-known "disliked" problem? Best regards
Hi ,
For Path Tracer, the sharpness of Shadows is managed by the Aliasing Filter slider. A lower value leads to sharper shadows and a higher value leads to blurrier results. You can try raising this value to get a less sharp result.
Please note that if you are in Twinmotion 2023.2 Preview 1 or 2 that this option is not present due to a bug and will be available again in the final version releasing soon.
As for the transparency of the lampshade material, that is actually an error from the raster/real-time renderer. The raster renderer can have a light bleed effect where lights bleed through geometry. This is actually inaccurate and a limitation of the renderer and Path Tracer is showing the correct lighting. TO get transparency, you should add an opacity map to your material to properly control opacity.
Best,
