Sequencer: Some objects are losing shadows from sun/kky system

Hello everyone,

I’m trying to solve an issue where certain car models are not casting shadows correctly, and it seems to be an issue specific to Sequencer. The shadows appear fine in the main Editor viewport.

The objects are cars are animated as Skeletal Meshes, not as static meshes.

Initially, I thought it was related to recreating the entire Sun and Sky system, but after further testing, I’ve narrowed it down:

When I use a standard Directional Light, the shadows on the skeletal mesh cars work perfectly fine in both the viewport and Sequencer.

The issue only occurs when I use the Sun and Sky system. In this case, the shadows from some skeletal mesh cars disappear when rendered or played back in Sequencer, even though they are perfectly visible in the editor viewport.

This suggests that the problem is not with the car models themselves, but rather with how Sequencer processes shadow information from the Sun and Sky system, which seems to be handled differently for skeletal meshes compared to a simple Directional Light.

Has anyone else encountered this specific behavior? I am looking for a potential workaround or a solution to get the shadows to render correctly in Sequencer when using the Sun and Sky system.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you.

Hey there,

Can you tell me more about your setup, or would you be able to setup an example of you scene? What settings are you using for your camera for your shot? And just to confirm you are using the Day Sequence Time of Day plugin?

Thanks

Dustin
