Self Shadow Only doesn't work

I’m trying to stop the shadows from the gun and the arms from casting shadows on the ground but self shadow only doesn’t respond.

Any ideas?


Use regular shadow maps and it should work. It appears to be an issue with virtual shadow maps, and raytraced shadows.

That sucks… that means no first person shooters with virtual shadow maps in UE5?

Or at least fps with floating arms isn’t an option in that case.

For virtual shadow maps I think it may just be an oversight or it hasn’t been implemented yet. The documentation describes them conceptually as just an extremely high resolution shadow map, so I assume they could support all the same features as regular shadow maps.

You could try submitting this as a bug in case they are not aware of it.
