Selection is sometimes inverted in the Outliner

Summary

Sometimes (around 10% of the time) Shift-LMB click in the Outliner will inverse-select versus range select. For example, If I want to select several objects in a row, the expected result is those objects in the outliner are selected, sometimes what happens is that everything else gets selected but the objects I intended to select. This gets frustrating when I have a large project with thousands of objects and I have to wait for the editor to select everything.

Steps to Reproduce

Have an object selected in scene, Shift+LMB click to select adjacent objects in the Outliner

Expected Result

Objects in selection range are selected in Outliner

Observed Result

All objects outside of selection range are selected in outliner. Inverse of what you’d expect.
