Segmentation fault while procedurally generating city for city sample

Hi,

I am following the Unreal Engine Documentation to replicate the exact steps for generating City Sample. Everything works until Step 11 where we have to export the houdini assets.

In this step while exporting it gives a segmentation fault in between the cooking process and terminates the processes as shown in the attached screenshot. We are using the free houdini license for now and would like to know if this is possible with the same or a purchased license is required.

OS: Windows

Houdini Version: 19.5.303

Unreal Engine Version: 5



I had the same error.
The way I solved this error was by connecting my freeway curve properly to one of the Red Arteries. I believe the Freeways must terminate at one of the Artery Roads. I looked at your image and one side of your Freeway is appearing to end at a building instead.
If you revisit that part of the documentation it might help … I found that part of the process a little unintuitive. I am using an indie license and after much trouble shooting have been able to get it to work reliably.

In addition… there are two reoccurring known solutions for
“Fatal Error: Segmentation Fault” that appear when I looked into this more…

It could be the GPU “timing out” so running regedit and adjusting the TdrDelay to be longer could be the solution.

and/or

Houdini can produce the same error when when using a Ramp Parameter inside the Attribute VOP.
