I ran into trouble trying to import this FBX Rig into Unreal. I need some help here to fix up her little problems. . I don’t know blender very well but this is what’s going on. I import the sci-fi girl FBX, a rigged model into Blender. Under Armature on Import options, I check ‘Automatic Bone Orientation’ to on to fix her bones up. and then hit the Import… The girl in the dress then shows up. The animation plays fine when shes walking in the dress… Then when I go to export the rig out into Unreal Engine. I then run into this trouble.
Here is what she looks like in Blender…
To check if the FBX file from Blender did export her dress out with her body mesh I then loaded the FBX file up into The Autodesk FBX viewer to make sure the dress did export with the mesh and it shows the dress is present. So then I think everything is all fine.
And here’s the result of importing the mesh in Unreal Engine.
Only her body mesh imported into Unreal without having the dress mesh on her at all and just in her underwear, it didn’t even extract the dress from out of the FBX file with her mesh and I’m wondering why because its in the FBX file.
So for some strange reason the dress didn’t even show up in Unreal Engine and I don’t know why.
Puzzled…
Does anyone know the reason why her dress didn’t import In with her mesh?
TRYING TO TEXTURE HER IN UNREAL ENGINE IS BIT OF A problem TOO. And trying to import her animations maybe troubling too as they turn all black during the import.
Because the dress mesh didn’t import in with her body mesh, I can’t put her dress textures on her !!!
She also has alpha hair textures as well, but I am not familiar with the material editor and this is the result I’m getting.
The girl is on Sketchfab by Patrik you can view her in the dress by going into google images and
typing sketchfab sci-fi girl dress. it is a couple of rows down. She is also in the ordinary dress as well, she is the beach blonde girl in the pics with the triangle design on her dress…
This girl dress model was supposed to be one of the council members in my game. But she can’t be
if I can’t get her all back to normal !!
Here’s the material instructions the artist kindly gave me to try to fix up her hair problem for Unreal.
" Set the material blend mode to translucent and set the texture sample’s sample type as “color”. And either link up the three channel RGB output, or any one of the single channel RGB outputs, to the opacity or opacity mask node of the material. It works fine for me."
I am a little unclear on what he means because he didn’t provide me any screenshots to show me the actual material linkages I need to make…
I probably need a color hair shader to get her hair all back to normal, I don’t know how to build
a blonde hair shader… but first, I just need to get her dress to show up in Unreal Engine.
ok so I want to know WHY PEOPLE ARE RELEASING models that are not even Game Engine Ready. either I come across missing textures, or missing shaders and this is NOT always easy to fix if you’re not a professional 3d modeller especially trying to restore the missing shader…
