Scene capture 2D shadows

Hello all,

I want to use a scene capture 2D and use the resulting image in other parts of my game (just like a photo camera) but I struggle to understand the results.

I want some parts of my game to be really dark on purpose, but when I try to take a picture of it, I can see through the dark spots very clearly which is not what I am going for.
Is there an option I am missing to have exactly what I see in the 3D view onto my material ?

Thanks in advance

It appears that your scene capture is not picking up on lumen GI, which is what’s darkening your tunnel. What settings do your scene capture 2d have for post-processing?

My scene capture has default post-processing settings.
Also I don’t know if it has to do with anything but I disabled Capture Every Frame and Capture on Movement on the scene capture.

I’d make sure to enable lumen GI and reflections then, and see what it gives you.

To be perfectly honest with you I have no idea what any of these options do.

Anyway they didn’t seem to have any effect.

Hey I finally got it to work !

I was using UE5.0 which apparently does not allow for scene captures to use lumen GI.
I updated to 5.3 and ticked these options on my scene capture.

And voilà !

Yep, support for SceneCapture2d was not available in 5.0. Good luck with your project!
