Legacy work that I’ve directed in 2017, than migrated to Unreal Engine in 2020. A short film about Saint Nickolas arriving at night to Ukrainian city of L’viv on December 5th(18th) flying through city and sending presents to good children.

Animation initially created by the VEOS artistic initiative that I spearheaded. Due to COVID outbreak the project was postponed, in 2021 due to the War subsequently the project was finished by myself and the help from my friend, who created Saint Nicholas character and his animations.
I finalized the short film in the end of 2023, released December 5th 2024.

Unreal Engine 5 Early Access version was used to created the animation.

Specifically I did:

  • Setup vehicles, rigged, optimized, prepared configurable Blueprint for them, Finally animated flow of traffic for each shot in Unreal Engine.
  • Finished Crowd and the family characters models, Rigged and created animations and assembled them in Unreal Engine. Create crowd animation for each shot in Unreal Engine.
  • Finished Christmas Fair structures, created assemblies of internal set dressing, prepared configurable Blueprint for them.
  • Material definitions.
  • Lighting iterations, per shot adjustments (Dynamic, Ray Trace - RTRT)
  • Volumetric effects, per shot adjustments
  • Created each Shots, iterations ( starting with creating Animatic and working on Previz and finishing with final shots). Each shot is a sequence asset.
  • Per shot scene optimization (removing\culling hidden objects\replacing with proxy mesh) in terms of GPU and Memory usage.
  • Rendering and denoising each shot
  • Post production of each shot in Adobe After Effects
  • Mixed Audio and SFX
  • Assembled and edited the animation in Adobe Premiere

Hi there @MasterChief_UA,

Welcome back to the Unreal Engine forums. Hope you’ve been well

As an absolute Christmas FIEND - I love this. The lights are so dreamy and nostalgic. It feels like literal magic is what is lighting up the lights. So stunning  :christmas_tree: Glad you finally got the chance to release this and I hope we get to see more of your art around here!
