Right-Click Menu / Tool Bar Menu Disappearing?

I’m having the exact same issue. After working for some time all context menus and drop down menus close instantly after opening them (or so it is visualized). If I actually do a snip of the screen the menu is actually there. I realized this when I streamed my screen for a colleague. He could actually see my drop down menu! While it was gone for me. So I did a snip of the screen (Windows key+Shift+S) and there it was!

My specs:
AMD Ryzen Threadripper 1950X 16-Core Processor 3.50 GHz.
64,0 GB ram.
Geforce RTX 3090

2 monitors:
Primary: LG 38’’ UltraGear 38GL950G QHD+ Curved Nano IPS 175 Hz.
Secondary: LG 32’’ 32GK850G QHD VA G-Sync.

Sorry for late feedback, Yes reverting back to old (december 2020) drivers helped.

Same issue with Nvidia 461.40 and 461.92.
Love it when Epic tells you to upgrade your driver and install DLSS plugin but it breaks the editor.
Old 460.79 works but, of course, no DLSS…

I have the exact same issue in UE4.26 and I can confirm that its happening when i use external screen with newest Nvidia driver (version 461.92). It was working with older version Nvidia driver. I also want to mention that this issue occurs after using the editor for 15 minutes.

Me and a couple of my co workers are running into the same problem. I’ve no idea why this is happening. the only similarity between our systems are that we are running 30-series cards.

And multiple monitors?

uhhh yeah same problem in material editor. amazing.
edit: actually, every menu in the app. from someone coming from garbage fest that is Unity, this is a joke. i thought UE was above this kind of crap.

Same issue here, but with only one monitor and a 20-series card.
Some other random things that may or may not be related:

  • I’m working with multiple copies of Unreal running
  • I keep all tabs docked in the same window rather than opening new ones
  • All of my UI layout is left as pretty much default
-When I switch to and from Unreal I primarily use alt + tab. Maybe that has something to do with it missing?

Same here.

I use 3 Monitors 2x1080p@60hz and the main monitor 1440p@144hz
GPU RTX 2080ti

something i figured out:

When using a single insrance of UE on all 3 monitors the problem only occures on the main monitor, on the other 2 UE acts normal. Maybe it has to do witch the difference between the 60hz and the 144hz monitor.

As a workaraound i use the nvidia control panel to limit the unreal engine at 60fps, UE get´s kind of laggy using this workaraound but no more disappearing of the right-click menu.

Have the same issue on and reverting back to 460.89 made the issue disappear but sadly that driver makes a few problems with other software packages I am using >.>
Can’t constant reinstall new drivers when switching between different software packages :frowning:

I agree, this issue has been going on for the past 4 months now and the fix of using an older driver can only work for so long. This really needs to be addressed.

I get it on a single monitor. I’ve changed just about every setting in the NVidia control panel. I’m trying the frame limit cap at 60fps to see if that fixes it.

So what’s actually going on is UE isn’t updating the visual part of the menu, the menu is still there and you can click on its options, but its failing to render.

Nope 60 fps limit did not fix it.

The fix for this is for everyone to spam the Unreal Engine bug report system as well as the Nvidia bug report system until they decide to fix it.

Can we please do something about this ??? it’s driving me nuts. It’s been months…

After 4 months of frustration, I have finally found a solution to this issue that does not involve rolling back the drivers.

Nvidia drivers from 461.09 onwards introduced a new feature called Multiplane Overlays, which apparently has some issues. The temporary solution for this is provided on this
Nvidia page

Running the mpo_disable.reg file will disable multiplane overlays on your system, which seems to fix the numerous issues I have had with UE and Chrome. There’s also a mpo_restore.reg to re-enable the multiplane overlays later.

You are a hero !!!

At the risk of tempting fate, I built 4.26.2 this morning and I’ve not had a problem all day, yesterday 4.26.1 every 15 mins I was having to re-start and it’s been like that for weeks. So fingers crossed 4.26.2 fixed it!

Well for me at least…

FWIW, I’m getting this in 4.26.2 as of this afternoon. I’d love a fix for this. Rolling back to 4+ month old video card drivers doesn’t seem like a feasible solution.
