Revit 2026 and TM 2025 material glitch in import an Datasmith export

All of the components and families that have multiple materials embedded in them get imported into Twinmotion like they have only one material, there has been no workaround to it and significantly hinders the workflow.

Does anyone have an idea whether theres a patch addressing this incoming or a workaround?

Autodesk has acknowledged the issue and provides a workaround but its a pain to implement even in the simplest models.

Ran into the same issue – Autodesk’s fix is a bit of a joke. In any case, as the problem lies in the 2026 Datasmith plugin, a proper solution is to bring over an older Datasmith version and replace it within the Revit 2026 folder.

This means you’ll need a Revit 2025 installation handy. Following that, simply copy all the contents of

C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Revit 2025\AddIns\TwinmotionForRevit

into

C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Revit 2026\AddIns\TwinmotionForRevit

That should do it.
