I’m writing this to make a personal request that new engine features go through a similar requirements checklist that our titles would otherwise go through - recently changes have been made to the Virtual Shadow Maps debugging view causing ‘Virtual Page’ viewport to become a muddy colored mess.
As a Technical Artist with CVD (Color Vision Difficiency) it makes it incredibly difficult when working on the engine that viewports that are necessary for debugging end up becoming completely unusable to the end-developer.
Because of this, I have since gone through our build looking to find where these colors are defined, only to find in the ush/usf files, these values are hard coded without any consideration for accessibility. Furthermore, in the “Cached Pages” view, the legend is also hard-coded, and has no explanation as to why grey isn’t listed there.
Without any sort of documentation, it becomes impossible to quickly relearn any major changes to debug viewport changes. We now have to spend time changing these colors to make things more accessible.
I would also like to ask why under “Type of Issue” on UDN, that an Accessibility option is not available to select? It doesn’t just affect the end user, it affects developers too.
Thank you for your time - Alessa.
