"Rendering Death" is always on, Why?

I have a problem with my outline postprossesing material.

The goal is to outline a static mesh if it is selected. I copied a material from a youtube video: [Tutorial][1]

It works but unlike the example in the tutorial, every object in the game is highlighted even if the render setting “Render CustomDeapth Pass” in the static mesh is off. I would guess that my material is the problem but I am not an expert. Normaly even the preview in the Material editor should show the object without the outline.

So how can I choose which object is highlighted and which not?
