Hi there,
I just read that Displacements are getting removed and apparently about 1k other Megascans/Decals?
As right now there is almost 19k Megascans available but the FAQ only mentions 17000+ Megascans.
Can you guys explain that?
It makes zero sense right now.
What will happen to people that bought these/own these?
Why can’t they be transfer over to FAB but simply not be sold anymore?
Will there be refunds for these assets/Balance for the FAB store?
Also, what happens to existing Megascans you own that are under a different license than the one you get from the “Add all Megascans for free” button?
→ Will the license of Megascans you did already acquired be the same as when you got them through Quixel?
→ Will the license change if you click that button?
Would be great if some of these would also be addressed in the FAQ on the Add all Megascans for Free dedicated page.
Some Megascans from Quixel have been discontinued, however, if you have previously acquired these assets, you can re-download them through Bridge and Megascans library until they are sunset. You will be alerted in advance if any changes occur.
For refunds, there will be refunds offered for eligible points that are in your account. For more information on this, please click here.
Any assets that you previously added to your Quixel account or downloaded from Quixel.com or Bridge will still be governed by the license that was in place when you got those assets. The assets claimed on Fab will be under the Fab standard license.
There’s unfortunately still some stuff left that I haven’t found anywhere yet:
What is the situation with assets that are getting removed, but I paid for?
→ Will there be refunds for these, similarly as with credit points?
I’m not quite sure if Megascans have transfered over yet so I’m tempted to press “Add all megascans to your library” but what happens if I do that and then later my actual library will get added?
→ Will the license that is higher apply or the one that was first set on FAB?
Assets that have been removed but you have purchased and downloaded are still available for your use under the Quixel license they have been acquired under. At this time, only active paid points balances are able to be refunded.
If you have acquired Megascans assets on Fab, they will be governed by the Fab EULA. Any Megascans acquired under a Quixel license will stay associated with the license it was purchased under.
This is still quite unfair.
Why would people want a new storefront when its feature set is much smaller AND stuff you literally paid for gets removed for download in the long term.
If there will be no refunds for these assets and no way to download them in a few years, effectively it is going to be a huge middle finger to everyone that got (these) Megascans in the first place.
And I’m quite sure that once people will realize this, it will lead to quite a big trust issue that will be hard to repair for those affected.
You’re basically ripping off people that got these - You can’t just expect everyone to just go in and download every item that will move over.
This super inconvenient but probably half of the people will not even find out about this or read their mails in time regarding that issue.
→ Not only that, but…
How are you even supposed to know which specific assets other than “Displacements” get sunset?
Can we get a list of items that are not being transferred over from Quixel to Fab, please?
I understand that these items may not meet Fab’s quality standards, but my quality standards are probably considerably lower than Fab’s in certain cases, and perhaps considerably higher in other cases (since I’d never even consider the name “Fab” for something I ever made, ever, unless for some reason I was entering a product line into the makeup industry or something similarly “glamorous”. Bedazzled hotpants, anyone?)
The quality of this forum post may or may not be indicative of my quality standards.
One way to verify this for now (that probably works), is making a new account, claiming all the assets through Fab, going back to Quixel and checking those that miss the green mark, category by category. It’s a hassle, of course, and it’s a possibility that is doesn’t work because of the green mark maybe not transferring to Quixel.
Hi, Anna. How do we tell which Quixel assets will be lost to time like tears in rain when Quixel Bridge is sunset?
The dusty and threadbare ole rope Bridge might have a few good planks left on it that could be salvaged before it gets burned for public safety.
