Hi everyone I have a weird issue with reimporting the exported asset from UE back into it. When I reimport the FBX, the material of the asset (the texture to be more precise) looks like as the UV’s have changed even if I don’t touch the mesh at all in Blender.
Here comes the weird part: If I export the same mesh from Blender with a different FBX name (instead of overriding the original FBX) and import it as a new mesh, assign the same material, then the texture looks like as it should be in the first place, unchanged.
I don’t know if it has something to do with UE re-importer but this is very weird.
I am using all default import settings in UE. I have tried checking the “Use Full Precision UVs” before reimport but it still has the same issue.
Am I doing something wrong or there are some extra settings for reimport that I don’t know about?
This is the original mesh and how it is supposed to look (and how it looks as a new mesh with a different name):
And this is how it looks when I export it to FBX from UE, import that into Blender, don’t change anything about the mesh and just export it from Blender (override the exported FBX from UE) and Reimport it into UE it looks like this:
Edit: But if I try to reduce the poly count by dissolving the unnecessary edges (while tracking the UV’s so they stay the same and unchanged) I still have issues with changing of the look even if the UV’s are exactly the same only with less edges:
