Hi all, just wanted to share a re-imagination of the Moore House by Craig Elwood using Blender for modelling, Quixel megascans for vegetation and props and Unreal 5.3 for rendering.
Some tweaking done on Davinci resolve and packed.
It’s purely done on Nanite and Lumen (GI, Reflections, Translucency)
Hi there @Studio3n3,
Hope you’re well and having a wonderful week so far!
This home looks incredibly modern, sleek, and extremely luxurious. From the breathtaking art to the natural elements in the wood features and stone elements - every aspect of this design is just stunning. I’m also totally obsessed with that kitchen How long did it take you to create this project?
Beautiful scene! It is so peaceful that I’d like to live in this house. Great work on the lighting, looks very natural.
Hi there! All good this end, I hope you’re having an amazing week so far!
Thank you for your kind words! Indeed is a beautiful home located in California, designed by Craig Elwood in 1965 and renovated recently by architects Woods + Dangaran. I took inspiration from The Local Project feature on youtube and decided to model it, add my own touch, and test my speed and workflow on Blender/Unreal/DaVinci Resolve.
I managed to finish it in roughly under 3 weeks, with other jobs in the mix, so it was a good exercise and I still have lots of learning to do on the PCG, vegetation, and outdoor side of it.
Thank you for your kind words! On the lighting side, I used an HDRi from Polyhaven Kloofendal 38d Partly Cloudy HDRI • Poly Haven just trying to replicate a Californian hillside.
I used it on a sphere as sky material, I particularly didn’t like the HDRI backdrop for interior renderings.
Thanks for the link! I also rarely use HDRI, but I think I will reconsider this since the scene looks natural with an even distribution of light across it.
I also used some rect lights on the left side where there’s not much light coming in. I disabled cast shadows and specular scale on them too.
It’s just a quick way of balancing the lighting.

Thanks for showing in detail. Now I can say that for my taste, I like it without rec light, so you more accurately conveyed the atmosphere, and the lighting is less office and more homey. Plus you can add some light sources, like turning on the lamp near the sofa for a cozy feel, or to decrease the radius of rec light from 1000 to 400-600 maybe and turn on the shadow (with a small amount).
In general, your scene allows the imagination to play. And it’s good. Thank you!
Will we be getting to see the outdoor side when its ready?
Indeed, there’s plenty of ground to play around!
I just did an enclosed property without landscaping, It’s just a garden and it shows some bits on the video, but I’m recording one with the demo I packaged and will be sharing it soon
Can’t wait to see it!
I was just writing down the post
It’s a little bit longer than planned, but it’ll be a good video to showcase to clients what a walkthrough looks like for archviz.
Demo if you want to try it out:

Beware it’s 7.8gb
Oh wow! It turned out beautiful It really adds to that “naturalistic” feel of the home and somehow manages to increase the luxury element as well. Also, I’m absolutely stunned by the granite options you’ve included in the kitchen and how dramatically it changes the feel of the home. Out of curiosity, how long have you been working with Archviz?
Thank you generally stones are the one material that clients tend to take time to decide the most, whether is for kitchens, bathrooms or furniture.
It has been 7 years, but around 3 with Unreal since version 4.26 and I don’t think I’ll ever go back to traditional rendering methods. With Unreal, one can achieve great results under less time and get clients to “play” in their house or their design with total freedom.
How do you share your projects with clients? In a packaged format ensuring they are using a gaming computer or pixel streaming or some other way? Thanks
Hi there!
I usually give a packaged format. For some clients closer to where I live, I rent them my laptop for their presentation or include a fee in the project that includes this service.
I’m exploring pixel streaming too but I’m not there yet or haven’t tested it properly, I’m also interested in Varjo reality cloud, although I need to see if works well and if is worth paying the monthly fee for the service.
All the years have definitely paid off - this work is really cool I’d love to have something like this as a home buyer. It’d be an awesome way to test different materials and colors. Thanks for sharing and I hope to see more of your work in the future!
I like the rectangle lighting more and more.
It’s such a tricky one! On one side you want to stay faithful to realism on the shadows and how lights behave in real life, on the other, clients want the Elle Decor look with plenty of light coming in to highlight the design choices, which makes sense too!
Rect lights are a blessing and so versatile too.
