Do we have to apply for category modifiers? For example, do I have to say on the submission form that I’m applying or aiming for the Army of One category modifier? I do NOT want to mess this up. ![]()
I tried the form and you have to select one or more modifiers, yes.
@SkyeEden I’d like to make a couch coop game, and I’m wondering how to set up the controls to make them accessible for the playtesting.
What is your usual setup to playtest the games?
Can I expect you to have 2x controllers? Any preferred input mapping from past game jams?
When you submit it shows you several checkboxes with each category modifier for you to choose.
If i buy a custom voice-over from a seller on Fiverr, does that make him/she a team member ???
As long as you can list what input is required we are able to meet those requirements, as the judges have access to various typical hardware, whether VR, mobile or controller input.
2025 Epic MegaJam Update:
Hey everyone!
We understand that the recent technical issues with third-party tools and platforms may have caused some inconvenience. To ensure that everyone has ample time to complete their amazing projects, we’ve decided to extend the 2025 Epic MegaJam submission deadline by an extra 24 hours. The new submission deadline is now October 24 at 11:59 PM ET .
Your projects are the heart of the Epic MegaJam, and we can’t wait to see what you come up with! Happy jamming, and remember, your creativity is what makes this event truly Epic.
Thanks! but could i get an answer to this, please ?
Heya!
If assets are purchased or were acquired in the past and are utilized in the jam, they should be categorized as sourced assets, which can include voice assets or files (providing the former is true). However, if commissions are made that actively contribute to the jam within the jam timeframe, regardless of the contribution size, those commissioned individuals will be recognized as team members. It’s crucial to avoid misclassification, as it could lead to either loss of points or disqualification.
@SkyeEden Hi Sky, we are facing an error when we are trying to publish the project, please check for reference link, please suggest.
Hello @SkyeEden, the countdown for the submission isn’t updated for the new deadline, right? We are a bit afraid of submitting the project in order to meet the current countdown and not being able to update the project within the extra 24h. Thank you!
Hello @SkyeEden
Unfortunately, our team encountered a couple of critical errors while uploading the project to the server, and unfortunately, we were one minute late filling in all the required fields. T_T
Can you tell me if the missed deadline is final, or if it is still possible to submit a project page?
The build was uploaded to the server at 57 minutes, we didn’t have time to fill in only the registration fields ![]()
@SkyeEden Hello! I don’t find if there’s any winners announcement date, do you have any idea when it can be?
Here we go again
10 years with Unreal/Epic game jams, and I have taken part of most of them. I did actorly made a game in Unity for one of the first jams, where the Theme Was “Two birds with one stone”. I was of course not really part of the jam, but I liked the idea so much that I made a game in the game engine I used at that time. A few month later I got a PC that could run the Unreal Engine and I begin to make games for the Unreal/Epic game jams. I have never won, and I properly never been even close to winning, but I like/liked making games in Unreal.
I have spend many, many, many hours making games for Epic game jams, and I have always liked the making of the games for the jam. But I have always thought that Epic Games, didn’t totally understand the idea and power of game jams. I have taken part of more then 80 game jams, and it is only in the Epic jams, where the people that is taking part of the jam do not rate each others games. I am not against the judges, but we could also have a community winners. What this would do is to make a more of a community, where we would play and talk with each others about over games. As it is now the community is nearly dead and it’s really difficult to make people play and say anything about the games.
You have this “Help Us Improve the Epic Developer Community”-survey, and I think one of the ways to make a game developer community is with game jams. But this only happens if we have to communicate with each other, and here I can see that participant ratings can create a Community.
For Epic Games I actorly think this in the long run is a much bigger issue. Whitout a better community, and better communication with the indie game developers, I believe there is a real risk that other game engines will run with most of the business. When I take part of a ordinary game jam, I will say that I maybe see about 1-5% use of the Unreal Engine. I guess this happens because of you not having that strong a community and you are not a super great at communicating with the indie game devs. And my guess is that a lot of the jammers is the future game devs, so you can try to guess what they are going to use when they are making there games.
But anyway, this is not a new complain of mine, so you can say ‘Here he go again’. And by the way my guess is that it will change nothing. So instead I recommend every one in the jam to play the games, and please give a bit of feedback to the games you play. And I promise you all there is a lot of great games in this jam. Good work everyone.
Hey,
It’s really disappointing to see absolute silence after the Epic MegaJam ended. No results, no updates, no communication (or I can’t find it). I thought the 10th anniversary would be the biggest one yet, but it feels like the whole thing is dead. The jam community is one of the best parts of the Unreal ecosystem, the very thing that drew many of us into development in the first place, and this kind of radio silence kills the energy and excitement. Anyway, hope you all had fun with the jam.
Hi Unreal Bucket,
Valid feelings. As a point of comparison the 2023 MegaJam ended Sept 21 and the Winners Stream happened Nov 30. (10 weeks elapsed)
The 2025 MegaJam ended Oct 24, so that currently puts us at ~6 weeks elapsed.
Re: Jam Community * nostalgia * - Remember when Allar and Shadowriver would play through every game on lengthy marathon streams? Shadowriver created a user-voting system with the Twitch API.
I had no idea the recent MegaJams were like that. Probably they’re bigger so I get that it takes more time to properly check all the projects. We only took part in the early MegaJam editions and it was such a great experience. I still remember Alex Paschall and Chance Ivey doing the livestreams with that amazing energy. The community was super hyped and involved, which really made it special…And watching Allar play all those game live..yeah.. nostalgia hits hard lol.
Anyway, thanks for the answer.
I completely agree. There has been zero mention at all anywhere about the jam once the deadline ended. Every day I search through my emails, discord, google, anywhere that I think they may have posted results, and nothing. I did see that someone said they have until Dec 15th to announce the results. This information supposedly came from the Mega Jam rules, but I read through the rule before the jam, and I don’t remember that date being there. However, it is possible that I missed it. Regardless, since I submitted with UEFN, I now have an island that is in need of fixes since FN updated, and I’m afraid to do so because I don’t want it to mess up the judging of the Mega Jam. I guess just 5 more days…
