Hey everyone!

Mark your calendars, everyone—the 2025 Epic MegaJam is just around the corner! Use Unreal Engine or UEFN to create your game / experience!

Not only are we gearing up for another exciting competition, we’re also celebrating the Epic MegaJam’s 10-year anniversary. With that in mind, what can you expect this year?

We’ll kick off with the announcement of this year’s theme on Inside Unreal on 2025-10-16T18:00:00Z on Twitch and YouTube with special guests representing this year’s sponsors, as we dive into all the details of the 2025 Epic MegaJam.

The theme reveal, as well as other surprise details, will be revealed at 2025-10-16T19:00:00Z during the stream. From that moment on, you’ll have seven days to craft a fun, playable experience that brings the theme to life. This is your chance to innovate, experiment, engage with the community—but most importantly, build and put something out there!

One of the most thrilling parts of the MegaJam is the opportunity to compete for sponsored prizes. This year, we’re pleased to welcome first-time sponsors Wacom, Razer, and Diversion, with Logitech and SideFX returning to join the lineup of incredible sponsors.

We’re also pleased to announce that we have more special modifier categories than ever before! That takes us up to a whopping 31 prize categories including the nine primary ones. All the details of these can be found on the 2025 Epic MegaJam Itch.io event page. Register now!

2025 Epic MegaJam Update:

Hey everyone!

We understand that the recent technical issues with third-party tools and platforms may have caused some inconvenience. To ensure that everyone has ample time to complete their amazing projects, we’ve decided to extend the 2025 Epic MegaJam submission deadline by an extra 24 hours. The new submission deadline is now October 24 at 11:59 PM ET .

Your projects are the heart of the Epic MegaJam, and we can’t wait to see what you come up with! Happy jamming, and remember, your creativity is what makes this event truly Epic.

Hey there,

My name is Mike. I am a composer and independent musician with several IMDb credits, and I’d love to bring that experience to your upcoming game jam as a judge for submissions in the music and sound design category.

My credentials include: releasing music on various record labels, scoring video games, currently working on a documentary as a composer, and having my music aired on online radio stations.

If that sounds like something you’d be interested in, I’d be glad to contribute.

Hi! Quick question here, All the members of my team should Join the itch.io jam? Or, only one of us should join, upload the project and include all the names and Epic usernames in the credits?

Thank you!

There is no jam-specific forum on itch.io to find members for the jam. Where can I go to look for members explicitly for that jam?

Unreal Source Discord, Epic for Indies Discord, and the Fortnite Creative & UEFN Discord are all great places to chat with other folks, and find potential team members

Heya  Great question. We do recommend that everyone in the team sign up. While on the uploader needs to in order to submit to the event, we recommend that the team does too in case there is any issues that could arise and someone else in the team needs to upload! Either way, the names and contact details of other team members will be requested at the time of submission.

But neither on Unreal Source or Epic for Indies Dicord servers are channels for the jam. It does not fit in the job channels either and would get buried in the general ones. So why not having a community forum for the jam on itch.io. ?

@SkyeEden

Can we use the Fortnite Assistant ? :face_with_monocle:

Also what about Rokoko, is that considered as AI and cannot be used ?

@Flak , any idea?

Are we allowed to use store bought assets? What about Paragon assets?

One more question. Are we allowed to use Angelscript? Hazelight studios uses a forked UE that enables use of Angelscript. I’d love to stick with that.

Morning folks - throwing my hat in the ring for MegaJam, I’m looking for a team to work with this year.

Who I am, and what I offer:

  • I’m an experienced game developer and jammer! I’ve shipped quite a few games and won prizes in the MegaJam multiple times.
  • I usually handle core game design, and a decent amount of implementation.
  • A light touch of project management / tried and tested scheduling to ensure we ship on time and with a bit of polish.
  • Located in Europe, so CEST (GMT+2) time zone during the jam.

What I’m looking for:

  • Similarly experienced developers with complimentary skills - particularly art, animation, and audio.,
  • It would be perfect if you’re multiple people who’ve successfully jammed together before!
  • I’ll be committing hard to the jam (more than full-time hours), and would like team members who are able to commit full-time too.
  • Version control, strongly preferring Perforce, is necessary.

You can see my most recent MegaJam entries here:

I understand it’s allowed if you list them, no ?

I assume by Fortnite Assistant you mean the Epic Developer Assistant search tool for the documentation? Using this should be fine, but your submitted work shouldn’t contain anything created by generative AI, so dialogue or images generated by ChatGPT as an exampe would not be allowed.

Rokoko AI Mocap is a trickier one - it does advertise itself as an AI tool so I would probably steer clear of it for safety, though looking at what they offer it isn’t strictly generative (but we don’t know what kind of data their tools were trained using and how that affects output capture).

You can use a different UE fork if you desire, including one that has Angelscript integration, this isn’t a problem at all. You can also use marketplace assets or similar, but make sure that you list/credit every asset that you did not create yourself as this is part of the requirements.

Images, sound and all generated by AI is pretty clear to me.

I was indeed thinking of the Developer Assistant.

And for Rokoko I was not thinking of the Video AI Mocap, but using the Rokoko suit. But it could be argued that interpolation is using AI - altough it would still be my actor’s performance. Complicated.

The rule in question is this “Submissions may not be made using generative AI, ML, LLMs or any other similar technology”

I find the rule way too vague as it is. I get Epic specifically don’t want entries that are vibe coded with AI generated assets but If you read this literally, it means you can’t for example use Unreal’s own Learning Agents for game AI - since it’s using ML which is now banned.

And if you get random coding issue, you can’t ask LLM like github copilot, jetbrains ai assistant, chatgpt, claude or even use google searches AI suggestion, even if it would solve the issue your are actively looking help for.
