We have bought the new generation of oculus rift, that is,the oculus rift cv1.However,we still feel dizzy when we use it.
I am wondering what are some of the best practices to reduce the feeling of dizziness?
In my experience, with the rift anyway, you need to make a game where you’re sat in a seat or cockpit of a vehicle. The moment you’re adding to the movement with mouse/keyboard type controls, you’re going to need a sick bag. I’m working on a Vive game right now where you’re confined to, and can walk around in the dimensions of your chaperone space - as long as framerate keeps up I can develop/play it for hours. The FOV thing seems interesting though - i’ll give it a try.
I believe the motion sickness stems from your brain knowing you’re not moving but still everything you see is moving.
Happens with Lucky’s Tale for example or any game where you have to adjust the view with an additional analog stick or what have you.
The smoother and responsive everything is the less you get sick as well. Haven’t had any issues with the Vive in this aspect.
One of the main reasons why actual movement is very hard to solve at the moment.
