Red outline on builds is missing

Summary

In Fortnite when looking at a build that belongs to a different player/team, there is a red outline indicator on that specific build piece. As can be seen in the image below.

When disabling the Time of Day Manager and creating from scratch the world lighting, adding a skylight and a directional light, the red outline is no longer visible on builds. Affecting all builds usage in game.

@HalcyonKnight96 Any chance we have someone from Epic staff take a look at this? I assume most people don’t modify the default lighting, so this hasn’t been on the radar, but it’s a core ‘builds’ mechanic that’s broken in Creative

amazing!

The red outlines for enemy building is connected outline postprocess material within the TOD manager. When disabling the TOD managers, it’s to be expected that this outline would be disabled as well. There are no plans to support outlines when the TOD managers are disabled at this time.
FORT-928161 will be closed.

ah, that’s unfortunate

I would recommend exposing in UEFN the post process material that handles that, so it can be used by a custom post process volume.

or provide the technical info, stencil depth or other to allow developers to fill up the gap.

@AHua-HSL any technical info you can provide on the outline material would be great, tried exploring custom render pass depth, to no success
