I have a tree mesh (made it in Blender). I made a material which uses the SimpleGrassWind node to make the branches sway in the wind. The material seems to work in the material editor, the wind effect takes place, but when I save and go into the static mesh editor or the editor, the wind effect is not showing. I have my realtime rendering settings on in both. NOTE: There are overlaps in the UV’s to make texturing easier. Please help!
EDIT: This is one mesh, not trunk + leaves
Hi RubDawg,
You may want to check against other content as well to see if the issue may be with your tree mesh.
I took a quick look at this with the Starter Content SM_Bush. I added your material setup and just used a simple mask material in the engine folder to plug into the Cheap Constrast node, Real-time view is not on by default in the Static Mesh Editor, so you may need to use the drop-down in the viewport of the SM Editor to enable it with the check box if you’ve not done so already.
If anything, try your material on any mesh with enough vertices to add the wind flow. The Sphere mesh in the Modes panel is a good example that can do this as well.
Thank you!
Tim
Ohhhhh, yes my tree simply has planes for leaves, would that not show then? Would strengthening the effect help?
Add more vertices to the planes. The simple grass node will allow these to be able to move back and forth based on the values you enter. Strengthening the effect may help see movement or not, but if you’ve only got 4 vertices for the plane it’s not going to be as good.
Thank you!
