Raytraced distance field shadows from landscape on landscape

Does the landscape not self shadow in the ray traced distance field shadows?

Hi Fanzypantz,

Landscapes do not support Distance Field shadows. Right now they only support Distance Field AO and GI by way of using a heightfield.

You will want to use the method listed in the RT Distance Field Shadows page, which shows how it was handled with the Kite Demo, and enable Far Shadows for your Directional Light with a set number of cascades. Any meshes on the Landscape will use their own Distance Field shadow, but not the landscape itself so that has to use the Cascaded Shadow Maps instead, which is the default method of dynamic shadowing for dynamic lights.

You can visualize see that the Landscape is not supported by switching to the Mesh Distance Field View in the viewport by going to Show > Visualize > Mesh Distance Fields.

thank you that worked like a sharm, looks way better. The far shadow buttons was under a drop down menu I overlooked in the cascaded shadow map section ^^
