Race Manager Device: unchecking "Display Race HUD" does not hide the race HUD

Summary

The Race Manager Device’s HUD cannot be hidden. Unchecking the HUD options leaves the HUD frame on screen but stops feeding it data, so players see a broken widget for the whole game.

What Type of Bug are you experiencing?

UI / Tools

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Place a Race Manager Device and set up a basic race (checkpoints, laps).
  2. In the Details panel, uncheck Display Race HUD. Optionally also uncheck Display Best Lap Time on HUD and Update Lap Time Stat Each Lap.
  3. Launch a session and start a race.

Expected Result

The Race Manager Device HUD (activity name, race timer, best lap, lap counter, position) is hidden.

Observed Result

The HUD frame stays on screen, but its data is no longer updated:

  • the title shows the raw placeholder text {ACTIVITY};
  • the timer is stuck at 00:00.00;
  • the lap and position counters show the literal placeholder X/Y.

Additional Notes

Re-checking the options brings back a working HUD, but there is no way to get rid of it. Islands with their own race HUD end up with two, or with a broken one.

Workarounds tried:

  • HUD Controller Device: none of the 26 creative_hud_identifier_* values in the Verse digest targets the Race Manager Device HUD, and the HUD Controller settings do not affect it.
  • Verse: race_manager_device exposes no function to hide its HUD.
