Description: After reinstalling Unreal Engine 5.1.1 on my current system, I encountered an issue with a project containing materials downloaded via Quixel Bridge. The materials have been part of this project for about 15 months and worked without issues previously. However, upon reopening the project, some of these Quixel materials fail to compile, throwing the error [SM6] Missing Material Function. When switching to Shader Model 5 (SM5), the error persists with the corresponding SM5 error message.
Interestingly, migrating a copy of the same project to Unreal Engine 5.4.4 resolves the issue entirely, and all materials compile correctly in that version.
Any insight into compatibility issues or missing dependencies would be appreciated.
The issue is I can’t add it anymore. The UE 5.1.1 installation does not come with it anymore, and the plugin is also not available on Fab. So, how can I add the Quixel Bridge plugin?
I’m currently having the same problem. How were you able to reinstall quixel from the vault? No matter what i search nothing seems to come up. When I click the filter by category arrow nothing happens either.
I actually can’t click and get that dropdown filter at all, I’ve tried clicking the arrow and the word category but nothing happens. I’ve tried reinstalling the launcher but still the same issue. Super frustrating.
I am on windows, but today I tried it again in the morning with no success, but a few hours later I was able to search for quixel and install it and all my textures are back in the project. A few hours after that everything shows up in my vault again that only showed in the fab library website before. Not sure why but it works now. Maybe it couldn’t connect to epic’s servers yesterday? Strange. Thanks for the replies anyways!
