Quixel Bridge Failed to restart background service

How can I solve this problem? The methods you mentioned before I had tried them all, none worked for me. I felt so upset now.

Thankyou! That works to me. I move documents back, and it solved!

I love you.

This method was the only one that worked for me.

Thank you very much!

That did it for me on Windows 7 64 bit.

Going to the Preferences in Quixel Bridge (ie not in UE) and changing the Library Path also fixed it for me. Despite this being a known, crazy bug that must affect a sizable chunk of Windows (and others) machines its been left open for oven a year!?

The reason I say it will affect so many is… stupid MS Onedrive (which is default to Enabled in Windows 11) likes to take over the My Documents folder with a kind of virtualised location. This is usually invisible to the user as for years programs have used Environment Variables to “know” where folders like Documents are… not hardcoded locations like Quixel Bridge is doing.

Quixel Bridge thinks this is an ok path:

  • C:\Users\NAME\Documents\Megascans Library

however this is the actual location:

  • C:\Users\NAME\ OneDrive \Documents\Megascans Library

the broblem is solved.thank u bro

Creating a Documents folder worked fine. Thank you!

When i click “Rstart Now”, i got a message like this “no such file or directory, mkdir ‘C:\Users\Jackdos\Documents\Megascans Library’, bla bla …” so, i create the directory by myself, then it works!

When I click “Restart Now”, I get this

so, i created directory “C:\Users\Jackdos\Documents\Megascans Library” by myself, then, it works!

Same problem is happening to me

OMG!!! After hours searching, this one works for me!

thank you!!!

After trying a few things, removing Bridge and Bridge-bifrost folders from

C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming

did the trick.

Thanks! Deleting the “Bridge-Bitfrost” directory is what worked for me.

Hi, I don’t know if it will help anyone but I was unable to change Bridge Library Path until I started in offline mode (and then pointing to an existing Library Path fixed the problem).

For me, I edited the library location at some point. The drive changed. When I reinstalled I couldn’t get quixel bridge to connect to anything and gave me the same error. After locating the original library location and updating the path in the settings everything worked. Simultaniously I end the helper processes as well. That might have contributed to my solution also.

I’ve tried creating Megascans Library folders in all the places where my projects are. The problem is that when I try to enter the path to this folder in the plugin settings, it just disappears after closing the settings window. I enter the path there, click save, close the settings, and after I open it again, the path is empty again! I tried to run bifrost from a folder, but I got an openssl error

Had something similar, deleted all plugin related things. adn installed the plugin again. works now again

I had the same issue today and solved it by solving background service failure issue, if you have verified your age and you still get this error, check if you see a small popup at the bottom of the page that says " Failed to restart background service". after you fix the background service issue you should be able to login. here is the related forum post and there is a very easy solution at the end of the forum posts. You just need to remove “Bridge-Bitfrost’” folder in C\Users\PCName\AppData\Roaming.

fixed my issues! Goodluck all!
