Quixel 2.0 & UE4 Materials

So I’m generally new to game development with UE4 and just getting my bearings on how things are done. I know quixel suite 2.0 is used to create normal maps and to texture 3D models, but not sure if that is all there is to it. In other words I was curious if anyone uses the quixel suite to make UE4 materials from scratch like certain types of brick walls or stone tiles. I’ve seen plenty of examples on texturing 3D models and know that you can create normal maps from a starting photo you found on google images, but I am still confused on the general process of creating general use materials for in game geometry. Any help is appreciated, thanks.
