We just released QuickThumbnail for Unreal Engine 5.3, get it here!
I think the thumbnail problem is really a problem.
My assets always look like this, but your plugin works with a tipology of assets that is too narrow. This is how my assets look like. And changing thumbnail is also needed for statich meshes and materials above all. I know there is no way to do that, but maybe some trick? Like puttin materials in some other classes, or I don’t know…
As you said, it is not possible to edit Materials and Meshes thumbnail at the moment in Unreal Engine.
One solution would be to create a custom Material and Custom Mesh type, but that’s hacky and if one day you don’t use QuickThumbnail, your assets would be broken.
I hope that in the future the thumbnail API evolves so that we can customize all of them.
